My personal trainer is breaking up with me. The sadness I feel can only be compared to the disappointment when that guy you’ve been really excited about starts the conversation with “I don’t think I feel the same way about you….” This is a sorrow that can only be handled one way… with chocolate and whining. Thus, I sit here drinking hot cocoa and blogging.

I Double Dare You

It’s been over three weeks since the push-up duel ended. Did the push-ups abruptly end? Not for me. Two reasons:
- Like Pavlov’s dog, I’m now conditioned to do push-ups. “Never Gonna Stop” by Rob Zombie comes up on my music playlist and I feel like throwing myself on to the floor to begin push-ups.
- The 20,013 in 2013 challenge is ongoing – and I haven’t give up on the idea of completing it.
It’s a Win-Win!

Previously, on “Life of the Lintee Bean”:
When we left our heroine.. okay, me… we were on day 15 of our 20 day push-up duel against the big dude from Texas… and the score was 945 to 831. Whatever shall happen? Will our heroine’s arms fall off?

I mentioned last post about how I challenged a fellow Fitocracy member (“MidnightYell”) to a push-up duel, and I know you’re all wondering how it’s going. It’s going. Here’s how it’s going, in excruciating more detail that you ever wanted to know.
Push it, push it real good

I’ve totally been slacking on the blog! I know! No excuse, but I’ve been busy lifting, pressing, pulling, and squatting heavy things. I haven’t even been playing with yarn much!
I’ve started stage 6 of New Rules of Lifting for Women. For the most part, I’m still listing my accomplishments each stage.
Do I even lift?

Do I even lift? Why yes, yes I do – and I have proof!

I’ve been exercising. For real. Actually consistently “making exercise”, as my former roommates call it.
Boo on you!

Halloween was a hoot again this year. I enjoyed handing out candy to all the Trick-or-Treaters. Zombies seemed to be the most popular costume this year, and I think my favorite of the night were a young girl and boy (brother and sister, perhaps?) dressed up as a zombie bride and groom. They settled for eating candy rather than my brains, for which I’m grateful.
Puffy feet

I was diagnosed with edema in 2008. I’d noticed my huge legs and “cankles”, but honestly just thought it was fat. I was definitely overweight, and thought the disappearance of my ankle bones was yet another sign I was TOO FAT. I started seeing my physician pretty regularly that spring as he’d insisted we could no longer put off dealing with my high blood pressure, we could no longer “wait and see”, we had to deal with it. In April of 2008, he put me on Norvasc (Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker), with little improvement. A few weeks later he tried changing me over to Dyazide (triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide). When I went back to follow up, I asked him about my puffy legs. I’d finally realized maybe something else was going on – as at this point, one leg was MUCH larger than the other. I’ve never been “fatter” on one side.

I’ve been struggling with this stupid chronic nausea for two years now. I don’t remember exactly when it started – but I do remember having it when a friend visited in October 2010. It’s been a very long (and boring) saga. I saw my general practitioner. He ran bloodwork, saw nothing amiss, and said “maybe it will go away”. I went back several months later and he referred me to a gastroenterologist (GI specialist). He ran tests. He thought I had a tumor on my appendix, and referred me to an oncology surgeon. (I had surgery in October 2011. It wasn’t a tumor, it was just some stupid fibroid mass.) The GI specialist wanted to put me on steroids. I refused. I saw a gynecologist. I saw another GI specialist. More tests. No answers. I got a new general practitioner.
