I’m new here and I think this is a wonderful page. I found the info I needed on whether one of our cats needed B-12. She doesn’t. She has been wounded and I’m trying to bring her back to health. There’s a bit of history I won’t go into; but I’m trying to improve her appetite. She could still die. She’s running out of energy; but still fighting. Any ideas? She doesn’t like to experiment with new foods too well.
Hi Katie,
I’m sorry to hear your cat is struggling. If she’s not eating, you may need to try all-meat baby food (unsupplemented for a few days is okay – after that it would at least need supplemented with taurine and a mineral supplement). You may need to assist feed or consider a feeding tube. There’s a wealth of information on these subjects on catinfo.org.
Best of luck,
Lynette
Thank you for your quick reply. We had to put Allie out of her misery last night. She fought valiantly; but the root cause may well have been cancer. At any rate, she just couldn’t heal. Now she has a daffodil patch to care for. Keep up your good work. At the least, we cat lovers know that without us, these orphan cats wouldn’t have had a life at all.
Sincerely, Katie Prier
Katie,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I do hope the fact you gave Allie a life filled with love does bring you some comfort.
Lynette
