I had another personal training session with Ron on Saturday. That leaves two sessions remaining before he moves out of state. Sadness.
Ron asked me what I wanted to do, as usual. He knows I have a list of things I want to cover before he leaves. However, I was a bit distracted by his computer-generated image of me. The image (and related information on me and my goals) is the first page on the left side of his folder. So, when he opens the folder to make notes on our workout, the picture is displayed prominently on the side of the folder facing away from him – and toward everyone else. I suggested perhaps he needed to make a new image. I reminded him that the “current me” image was unflattering – and the “goal me” image is not motivating whatsoever. He moved the page behind another page so it wasn’t showing. He told me he hasn’t made an image of any of his clients since mine – you’re welcome, all you clients I don’t know.
We did some stability ball roll-outs for my core, and “lawnmowers” for my power exercise. Unfortunately, I tend to “break my wrist” (Ron’s term was “girl curl”) in my lawnmowers, so I need to fix that. I was lightheaded and woozy – an undesirable effect of the ongoing mystery ailment, that still gets worse with weather changes (like the recent snow, then temperature increase, then rain). Ron also showed me how to do dumbbell pullovers on the stability ball.
Ron said he could tell I’d lost weight, perhaps he was just feeling guilty about the computer image, but I’ll take a compliment! Plus, laying with my lower back on the stability ball and knees bent – my thighs did look practically “skinny”. Far thinner than when I’m sitting on my butt in a chair with the fat squooshed to the sides. Looks better with the fat hanging/hiding below – something to keep in mind, I suppose.
Next we did one-leg Romanian deadlifts (single-leg stance) – and alternating arm dumbbell shoulder presses. The deadlifts were extra challenging due to the dizziness.
Then Ron introduced me to the T-bar. Yay, fun with free weights! We did T-bar deadlifts and T-bar rows.
Upstairs to the “jungle gym” for assisted pull-ups. Ron was not impressed with my sets of one assisted pull-up per set, using my resistance band that provides about 50 lbs of assistance. For my fifth, and final, set, he encouraged me to do ten to twelve. Not happening. I managed two… and a half.
Since my chiropractor is discouraging my push-ups, I’m now almost 600 push-ups behind target in the 20,013 in 2013 challenge. MidnightYell suggested we do another duel, but I feel this would be frowned upon by my medical professional. What’s a girl to do? Well, challenge ImpishFae to a pull-up duel! It includes pull-ups and chin-ups (though my chiropractor has discouraged me from doing chin-ups), and includes the assisted variety – a good thing, since I can’t yet do an unassisted pull-up. ImpishFae is super sweet, and only counting her unassisted pull-ups so she doesn’t crush me.
- The duel has begun! Yarn-girl versus woman with skull (seems her last foe met with his demise)
