Hook along, needle along…

May 15, 2012 by Lynette

Some finished projects… most crocheted, one knit.

A commission crocheted baby blanket for a coworker

A simple little headband – commissioned for someone’s mother

Headband/ear-warmer with adjustable button closure

Another knit project – made as part of a “knit along” (where several people join up into a group and tackle the same pattern together, in this case a bunch of beginner knitters)

St. Patty’s hat – test for pattern designer

I have a fondness for sari silk yarn – this is yarn made by recycling the silk remnants from making sari’s for Middle Eastern women. I love the idea of recycling rather than wasting – and it’s beautiful and colorful and provides jobs to people that desperately need them.
This hat was done as a test for the pattern designer.

I got this really cool yarn at a fiber festival in 2010, but wasn’t sure what to do with it. Someone suggested a mobius and I loved the idea – so I made a mobius wrap, a bit larger than the pattern called for, as I didn’t want to waste any yarn. It’s more of a shawl.

I’ve been wanting to make this design by Kristin Omdahl for ages – as a math geek, I’m drawn to her use of interesting geometric shapes. This is the Ayla cardigan.

Tempted to leave this out… but in case anyone thinks I never have huge failures… an attempt to make “flowers” for a friend who was doing a display/project for a class.

ugh…

wanted to use this self-striping yarn for something… and started a blanket, but don’t love how it came out. Cut my losses short and made a baby blanket which I’ll donate to charity.

Another “group project” – a crochet along (CAL) for a shawl. I added beads, though it’s difficult to see them

Nice work! Love the cardigan. And you should be proud of your knit cowl!

As usual, holy crap I can’t believe how productive you are! I love the last shawl and the mobius wrap!
