Dear Blog

May 2, 2012 by Lynette

Dear Blog,

Did you think I’d forgotten you?  I hadn’t.  I’ve thought of you often. I’m sorry I’ve neglected you. You know I was sick last winter, and being sick and at home by myself pretty much 24/7 – well, I just didn’t have much to say. Nothing I particularly wanted to say, or would want to read. Oh, I’ve kept up with blogging my creations with yarn – but we both know that’s primarily because I am too obsessive compulsive much of a perfectionist to make anything without adding it to my Ravelry project page – and then “must” have a blog post associated with every Ravelry project.

I’ve always viewed writing in my blog as a conversation with myself.  It’s like a diary – a diary I’m going to forget at a bar or on the El or somewhere else where anyone could pick it up and read my innermost thoughts. So, while I’ve never been apt to keep my thoughts to myself, I do try to censor myself to some extent. No one is forced to read my blog, not even my mother (though I tried to convince her she was somehow morally obligated) – but still, I doubt anyone wants to read whiny posts about feeling sick and sitting at home – and I didn’t really want to write about it, anyway.

But I’m feeling much better.  It’s almost funny. After all those tests and even surgery – the doctors seemed no closer to figuring out why I was sick. Then in January, I started having ear aches.  I went to my doctor, and she prescribed some ear drops for an apparent ear infection. She said only one ear canal was inflamed – but I could use the drops in both ears. Well, only a couple days after starting the drops, my nausea was 90% better.  The doctor was sure it was just a coincidence.  A week or so after I finished the drops, the nausea started to return. I couldn’t find any over-the-counter ear drops that seemed to do anything other than remove wax – of which I had none. So, I bought some Zymox ear drops (enzymes and steroids) I’d used on cats with great success. I used those daily – then gradually decreased frequency. In general, I’m vastly improved.

I’m back at work – they’ve been considering me back full-time since March 1. I’ve been going out with friends and “making up for lost time” to some extent. I’ve even done some dating, seriously! I’ve got lots of stories to tell you.

I’ll write again soon.

Lynette

GLAD you are back!!! So happy to read you are doing better. Woo Hoo! Sorry you are unable to “guilt” your mom into reading your blog. Why is it that moms are the only ones that can use guilt to their advantage?! 🙂
Looking forward to reading your stories.
