Another weekend has flown by! They always go by so fast. Saturday morning is always filled with promise. Two whole days ahead – I can surely accomplish wonders in 48 hours!
I woke early Saturday, ready to start tackling my many projects. However, I was quickly distracted… and landed up spending the morning attempting to make a tape measure cover that looked like a frog. I’m not sure it really looked like a frog – but it was green, and had something resembling a large eyeball and red tongue.

Saturday afternoon I went to the hair salon, and worked on a scarf while visiting with the other ladies. When I got home, I decided to start crocheting a baby blanket. I have several projects that need to be finished, including the scarf that now ONLY needs trim. However, baby projects are SO CUTE and SO FUN, and this blanket has little ducks on it! The blanket took me well into Saturday evening, but I was almost done with one section.

The start of a baby blanket - with ducks
Sunday morning I was determined to be really productive. I started by making list of all the things I needed to get done. There were ten items on the list – that seemed reasonable. I made cat food. I mowed the lawn. Two things already checked off my list. I started laundry. I was really cooking now!
I was going to change the bedding, but one of the cats was on the bed and she told me I had to wait. I decided it was probably late enough to call my friend Kirk. I needed help with my fantasy football teams, because although the quarterback I drafted is funny and witty and I like him – he is not actually playing football at all right now, and probably won’t all season. Apparently, it wasn’t quite late enough as I woke Kirk up. He made some player suggestions, then we got into a lengthy discussion on the color of baby ducks. I was sure they were yellow with orange bills, legs and feet… but he felt they were brown, black, or white. So, we had to do some research to ensure my baby blanket was zoologically accurate.
Next on the list were several crochet projects. My goals were to finish the first section of baby blanket, make one hat, and make the trim for my scarf. I’d agreed to make nine hats for my friends’ group, so I figure if I make one hat a week I’ll have them done in plenty of time for the end-of-year deadline.
Before I started crocheting, I thought I should check my email and the Internet. I got distracted by some great yarn swap offers. I claimed some yarn, and offered up a “stalked surprise” for the next claimant. As part of her surprise, I tried to crochet a tape measure cover that looked like Wonder Woman. (It kind of resembles the face of a woman having a bad hair day.) I made some stitch markers in red, white, and blue to go with the tape measure.

It’s time for bed, and there’s still only two things checked off my list. I haven’t touched the baby blanket or started a hat or finished the scarf. The laundry is done, but I don’t have the energy to put it away. I guess the bedding will get changed tomorrow – or next weekend.
