I’m still crocheting. My projects still aren’t fantastic, but I love the relaxing nature of knotting the yarn and exercising some creativity. My nephew and his wife are expecting a baby girl in July, so I made them a little baby blanket. Not perfect, but I’m pleased with how it turned out.

Then I saw this pattern for a “sushi scarf” and I just HAD to make it! I made a little matching pin. Unfortunately, though the friend I gave it to thought it was funny, she admitted she’d never wear it.

A coworker saw my baby blankie, and commented that she had planned to learn to knit and make her friend one… well, I was on a roll, so I offered to crochet her friend a baby blanket! Unfortunately, I got carried away on the width and ran out of yarn so the hood is a tad smaller than expected and there’s no edging… but I think it’s still cute. Since the baby girl was born before I was done, I added a few pink flowers as trim.

I crocheted a reusable/washable cover for my Swiffer – I hope this cuts down on the number of boxes of the disposable cloths I have to buy! It turned out well, and I plan to make more. I already finished my second one.

I crocheted a cotton bath puff – it’s more like a balled-up washcloth than one of those mesh bath puffs, but it’s cute and feels nice to the touch.

I’d noted before that I’d failed miserably at my two attempts to crochet mittens. Well, I gained a lot of confidence with the above projects… and decided to give it another try! Third time was NOT a charm – how I did not notice the mitten was mammoth until I was nearly done, I do not know. I can fit both hands into it with lots of room to spare.

Before my mitten failure, I’d already convinced myself I was ready to attempt my first garment. We’ll see how that goes! If I can’t fit a hand, I’m a little worried about my ability to fit a torso… make that a LOT worried.
