Sports fan – NOT

My parents have been very supportive of my writing efforts. They give me lots of suggestions and feedback. This week, Dad recommended I write about sports. Greeley is certainly full of sports fans. Chicago is certainly full of sports teams.

I decided to make one of my goals for 2009 to eat healthier. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Eating healthier! Of course, the question became – exactly what does that MEAN, to eat healthier? Obviously fruits and vegetables are healthy. I get that. What I don’t understand is everything else. All those packaged meals that are so convenient – are those healthy? The salads and other meals – are those good for me? I haven’t the faintest idea. I find it all overwhelming. They print nutrition labels on everything at the store, but all that information – are those grams of fat and protein and carbohydrates healthy?

Well, it’s May April and I just bought two pairs of jeans this weekend in size EIGHT, and I’ve lost 29 pounds since January!

Still tied up in knots

I’m still crocheting. My projects still aren’t fantastic, but I love the relaxing nature of knotting the yarn and exercising some creativity. My nephew and his wife are expecting a baby girl in July, so I made them a little baby blanket. Not perfect, but I’m pleased with how it turned out.

I take public transportation to and from work every day. I know many of you drive or even walk – where’s the fun in that? I take the el, or elevated train. Well, it’s not always elevated – sometimes it runs underground, which technically makes it a subway, but lots of cities have subways, that’s not very exciting – Chicago has an elevated train, though it’s not always elevated.
