Goals for 2009

January 5, 2009 by Lynette

I have an aversion to the word “resolutions”, for whatever reason, so instead I try to come up with goals for the year ahead – preferably with steps toward achieving them.

My goals for 2009:

  • Finish my first novel – write (or rewrite) two chapters per week
  • Explore at least twelve new opportunities/activities – target one new activity/opportunity per month
  • Fit into a regular (not women’s) size 14 – Lose 20 pounds by my niece’s wedding in July, starting with the NutriSystem vegetarian plan.
  • Crochet! – Okay, I admit I don’t NEED to crochet, but I WANT to crochet and it relaxes me and yarn makes me happy!

My cats also have goals for the new year:

Kitty.com is going to try and be a member of the clean plate club.

Louie is going to try to maintain better blood sugar levels and regain his title as wrestling king of Chi-town.

Studley is going to try not to grow more unusual cells or otherwise incur giant vet bills.  (The current mystery bump doesn’t count as he grew it in 2008.)

Jellybean is going to try and be braver.  She’s already (unfortunately) practicing by stalking Kitty.com

Ralph is going to slim down and get into more trouble by getting into the occasional fight and rolling in the dirty litter box.  (The other cats have asked him to stop making them look bad by always being Mr. Likable.)

Rumpelmintz plans world domination – or at least rehoming all the other cats.

    Hi Lynette,
Nice to meet your family! I have 2 cats of my own, Max, a beautiful ragdoll cat and Chloe, a classy looking tabby. They adore my golden retriever, Buffy! We’ve recently had the adventure of moving. Buffy is a pro at traveling, but Max and Chloe were a bit overwhelmed by it all! But they have adjusted quite well by this time!
Your goal of a novel is quite impressive! I remember how you enjoyed writing way back in high school… and were always a good writer!
Have a great year and best of wishes on your goals!

I thought you might find this amusing!

And I agree… the word Resolution makes you want to not do it, out of rebellion. 😛

Oh my… and such a dirty litter box! The miniature person needs to scoop the miniature litter box more often!
