Well, my friends have encouraged me to start my own blog – so here it is!
Since most of my waking and sleeping hours revolve around cats, I suspect most of my blog entries will as well. As a child, we lived next door to the town “crazy cat lady” – you know the woman who lives in a housedress and has more cats than anyone can count? (Someone tried, but gave up after they reached a hundred…) I liked cats, but I don’t think I expected to grow up to be the crazy cat lady… but it seems to be happening, or perhaps happened already.
Hi dear Crazy Cat Woman
I love all your messages and I also love cats.
Please keep on with the Blog so I can read your stories every day.
Hugs from another CCW.

Hello, I accidentally came upon this fabulous blog of yours, and wanted to say thanks for all you do! I’d been searching the web for info on nutrition. I’m still feeling guilty about following traditional veterinarian care which never addressed nutritional issues, and I blame that for the loss of our cat less than 12 years of age on Christmas who eventually passed away from starvation after a long bout with 8 vets who pumped her up with drugs while I kept asking about nutrition. Her story–We’d originally found her as a kitten unconscious in a city street gutterr. She became a healthy, energetic handful until we moved to MI 2 yrs. later. Shortly thereafter she began having siezures. Long story short, she’d been on phenobarbytol for 8 years. I hate meds and vets but what were the alternatives–she was injuring herself w/ siezures. Okay, so all was fine…until this past July when she began having diarrhea–bad. Vet wanted to do all kinds of things including exploratory surgery. Then they put her on drugs, Prednisolone and Metronidazole – still diarhhea. I kept changing vets as I always thought siezures and now diarrhea too, were from cat food. Finally in Dec. we found homeopathic vet who prescribed several homeopathic “remedies” but finally she couldn’t hold on and stopped eating and left us on Dec. 23. My point in writing is that my inner voice has always said it all happened because of the commercial cat food!! I later discovered that traditional vets only have 4 hrs. of nutritional training…and from a petfood manufacturer! Come on!! No wonder we’re losing our pets! I applaud you for not only rescuing your little little ones, but to have developed this wonderful blog, etc. to encourage people to see how commercial cat food is killing our cats! Your Ralphie’s story and images before and after were amazing! I only wish I’d been better informed earlier, as we may still have our little girl with us…. Here’s hoping someone else will read our story and yours and help save another life. Jeanne

I’m so very sorry for your loss. You are correct, vets have little schooling in animal nutrition (and only a small portion of that is in companion animal nutrition, the majority focuses on feeding cows, swine, and poultry. Personally, I can understand that – our human doctors receive little schooling in nutrition as well. What I can’t understand is that veterinarians (unlike doctors) are considered by so many as experts in nutrition, and even sell and recommend pet food in their offices.
